Snack: We will have a working snack at 2:55 after Connect each day. Since this is a working snack, we ask that only simple finger foods be sent in. Please refrain from sending items that need to be eaten with utensils. We encourage our students to make healthy choices. Cakes, cookies, chips and candy are not allowed during this snack time. For time allowance, please send in something small that can be eaten quickly. Students need to bring their own snack from the list below. Snacks cannot be shared and will not be provided by the classroom teacher. Approved Snack List This is not a complete list. If in doubt, please do not send it to school! Birthday or Class Party treats: On or near your child's birthday, you may send in a treat for the whole class if you wish. I will pass out the treat at the end of the day. Please notify me ahead of time as instructional plans are made in advance. You can send it in with your child or bring it into the school. If you choose to bring it in, please let the office know and place it on the cart outside the office. Please label it with your child's name and my name. I will pick it up after lunch or the office will deliver it to us. We do not have family birthday parties in school. Please send in plates and napkins with the items. I don't keep this in the classroom. Nothing homemade is allowed. Birthday treats are not mandatory. Non-food treats are always an option. Suggestions: Apple slices/Grapes/Pineapple (Fruit is safe) Rold Gold Pretzels and Boom Chicka Popcorn (Regular Flavor) Oreo cookies/ Lofthouse Cookies
Transportation If your child needs a transportation change for a day or so, please send me a written and signed note. Please do not write it in the student’s agenda. This will insure that they get home the way you planned. Please do not email me about transportation during the day as I can’t guarantee I will be able to check my email in time. If there is an emergency, please contact the school office and they can handle letting me know.
Leaving Early If you plan an early dismissal for your student, please let me know ahead of time by sending a note with the time your child is leaving. I can have your student ready to go by the planned time. If they are at lunch or in connect during the planned time, they can take their book bag with them. This alleviates classroom disruption and also someone having to leave the office to find us. In most circumstances, the school does not allow early dismissal after 3:00.
Attendance It is very important for your child to attend school daily since our lessons involve active participation. However, when your child is sick or has a doctor’s appointment please send a note with them upon their arrival back to school. **Please make sure your student arrives on time. Students may arrive starting at 8:15 and the announcements will come on at 8:40. They are marked tardy if they are not in the classroom by 8:45. Please drop them off in enough time to get there. Typically, scheduled trips during the school year are considered unexcused absences. These add up quickly.
